CASE STUDY: NaturallyThinking is a family run business offering a truly personal and specialised services. It aims to beat all of the large corporate backed websites on price because it does not have the same overheads as others do, therefore does not need to pass these on to their customers. It was started in October 2001 by Danny Stanzl with a very basic website and with limited e-commerce ability.

From their original website simply selling essiac tea mix, having experienced its power on a family member it has now expanded to over 200 product items. In January 2002, NaturallyThinking has decided to look for a full blown shopping cart solution. Danny contemplated writing it himself and tested well over a 100 different shopping cart solutions, even to go as far as nearly launching using an "freeware" based solution as the outline. However they all had limitations in functionality or most importantly in stability. It was then, that Danny chanced across AceFlex® B2C software. After trying the demo's and exchanging emails with Aceflex customer support Danny decided to take the plunge. Yes, Aceflex was / is more expensive than the majority of shopping carts NaturallyThinking size business would be looking at, but it did have features which only the big boys had and the stability of the software looked supreme.

NaturallyThinking had to find a new host (they had UNIX hosting at this point and needed a Windows 2000 server with SQL). Once again after a lot of hunting around they decided upon flarehosting.com, yes they were in America, but they have excellent prices and customer support which blows anything away available in the UK. The ping and speed of their hosting is brilliant. AceFlex® B2C software was easy to install, Danny simply passed the manual and software to the host who set it all up for no charge and got everything up and running. It then took only two weeks to customise the look and feel of the website, removing things which weren't relevant to NaturallyThinking market and tweaking things to make them more relevant. Also, bare in mind at this point Danny had no experience in ASP programming at all. All customisation was done using Dreamweaver and looking at the code and using basic logic. These two weeks also included entering about 250 products in, along with pictures and descriptions. It was hard work, but was made easy by the template layout and extremely easy to use backend of Aceflex.

Within 2 weeks, Google and AltaVista had picked the sites up and indexed them really well, they were on the first pages of virtually all the keywords they were interested in and over the course of the year they have been able to move into the top 3 on a lot of the keywords, just by using the tools built in that Aceflex offers. These are all facilities which you only normally find on the big boys sites. "Because of the efficiency of the backend of Aceflex, often an order arrived with us at 4.30pm, printed, packed and customer notified of a tracking number by 4.35pm and the goods arrive with the customer 8am the next morning all with ease," said Danny Stanzl, director of NaturallyThinking.

The options for sales, discounts and features work brilliantly, being able to turn on and off with a press of a button Sales and Offers throughout the site, on a catalogue of 1000 goods along with variable options has proved invaluable in saving time. The ability to offer different customers, different prices has enabled NaturallyThinking to offer a loyalty scheme, charging customers GBP 10 / year, but offering them 10% off of all purchases when they login. This has build brand loyalty and increased revenue from these customers significantly. "Our entire business has completely relied on Aceflex to grow and we have grown from turning over GBP 100 / month at the beginning of 2002, to a current turnover of GBP 10,000 /month within 1 year," said Danny Stanzl, director of NaturallyThinking. Because of the excellent site management facilities, Danny, Jeannette and Jamie manage the site day to day, including packing, advertising and procurement. It really has been a family affair. These highlights one of the biggest assets of Aceflex; it grows with your business. Whether you have 1 item and 1 customer or 1000 items and 2000 customers a month, Aceflex copes without a glitch.

Because of the growth of the site, NaturallyThinking is currently in the process of opening their first shop and is working on integrating their point of sale systems within the shop, directly into Aceflex so it could have a complete centralised system. Because of the modular way that AceFlex® B2C is built, it is a relatively straightforward task. Big organisations would pay tens of thousands of pounds to do the same. As NaturallyThinking moves to a shop and start to employ workers, it knows the variable access levels you can assign to workers will allow them to keep in control of the store, whilst allow employees the access and flexibility they need.

"Whilst you can always see areas for improvement, our predominant comment we get from customers is 'the website is really easy to use'. We have never had to apply patches to the site to 'fix' things unlike many other e-commerce packages; all patches for Aceflex have been to add value and improvement. As a company we are all really happy we chose Aceflex and honestly don't believe we would have grown to what we have today, had we chose any other product," said Danny Stanzl.
